- Receive a Physician’s Certification: Attend your scheduled appointment online and get certified for medical marijuana by the presiding physician.
- Pay the State’s Renewal Fee Once you get certified, log back in to your patient profile and pay the state’s $50 renewal fee. You should receive a reminder email 30 days before your annual renewal fee is due.
- Receive Your New Card: Once you’ve paid the renewal fee, your new MMJ card will be mailed to you.
How to Become a Medical Marijuana Caregiver in PA
Medical marijuana caregivers obtain medical cannabis for minors, homebound adults, and other patients who are unable to do so on their own. In Pennsylvania, a caregiver can serve as many patients as they want. To be eligible, you must be a state resident over the age of 21.
To become a caregiver in Pennsylvania, follow the steps below:
- Register Online: Visit the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Medical Marijuana Program website and create an account.
- Complete a Background Check: Submit to a criminal background check and get fingerprinted. This step ensures you don't have any disqualifying criminal convictions.
- Submit a Caregiver Application: Fill out the caregiver application on the Department of Health's website. This form will require information about the patient you'll be caring for.
- Pay the Application Fee: Pay the state’s $50 caregiver application fee.
